Miami Northwestern HS WR Eli Rogers Commits To Miami

Miami Northwestern wide receiver Eli Rogers has also committed to the University of Miami.

His Miami Northwestern teammate quarterback Teddy Bridgewater said that they decided to commit at the same time and they did just that.

“Yeah, we did,” said Rogers, also via cell phone Friday night. “I decided about three weeks ago, but we had already decided we would commit together and I was just waiting on Teddy to decide. We wanted to do it on the same day.”

Rogers indicated his relationship with head coach Randy Shannon was the main reason he decided to pledge to the Hurricanes.

“I think he’s a great man, and a great coach,” Rogers stressed. “When I called him today, he said he can’t wait to have me on the team. He said we are a family at Miami, and he welcomed me into the program.”

Rogers, 5-foot-10, 170-pounds, had a fine junior season for the Bulls, catching 35 passes for 551 yards, and scored 11 touchdowns.

This gives Miami another receiving threat and another Northwestern quarterback to wide receiver connection just like the Jacory Harris-Aldarius Johnson combination. The up and coming new QB-WR combo are sure to be a hit at the University of Miami in 2011.
