Miami WR Leonard Hankerson Has Huge Senior Bowl Week And Game
Miami Hurricanes wide receiver Leonard Hankerson had impressed scouts and coaches all Senior Bowl week and capped it off with a great Senior Bowl game.
Hankerson became the go-to-guy for Senior Bowl MVP, Florida State quarterback Christian Ponder, finishing the game with five catches for 100 yards including an 18-yard touchdown and a 48-yard catch to setup another South touchdown. Hankerson walked away with the Under Armour Offensive Player of the Game.
Hankerson had emerged as the Hurricanes unquestioned No. 1 receiver the past two years. Last season he caught 45 passes for 801 yards and six touchdowns then tremendously improved his stats this season catching 72 passes for 1,156 yards and 13 touchdowns.
At 6’3″ 205, Hankerson has drawn many comparisons to a former Hurricanes wide receiver that came from the same high school, St. Thomas Aquinas, Dallas Cowboys Hall of Fame wide receiver Michael Irvin.
Hankerson may have very well played his way into being drafted in the first round of the 2011 NFL Draft but we all know that the NFL Combine and individual workouts will also play apart in his slot in the draft.
