Michigan And QB Denard Robinson Suffers First Loss Against Rival Michigan State
The No. 18 Michigan Wolverines and star quarterback Denard Robinson had a tough outing Saturday at home at Michigan Stadium in Ann Arbor.
Robinson’s Heisman Trophy may now be in jeopardy after a 34-17 loss against their in-state rival No. 17 Michigan State Spartans.
He finished the game with 301 yards of total offense, 215 passing yards 86 yards rushing with one rushing and one passing touchdown. The biggest issue on Robinson’s stat sheet was three interceptions.
For the first time since 1965-67, Michigan State has won three straight in the series.
said. “Especially after my freshman year, losing that lead and the comments that were made. That’s the worst feeling you could have. Nobody wants to hear that.
“We just stay classy and get the job done.”
Robinson and the Wolverine offense had no help from its defense allowing 536 yards of total offense and 34 points.
The Spartans young running backs sophomore Edwin Baker and freshman Le’Veon Bell tore up the Michigan defense with a rushing total of 225 yards and two touchdowns. Baker finished as the rushing leader with 147 yards and a touchdown.
Robinson has an even tougher task next week against the #15 Iowa Hawkeyes.
