Michigan Destroys Bowling Green 65-21 Despite Injury To QB Denard Robinson
Michigan sophomore quarterback Denard Robinson led the Wolverines to two touchdown drives before tweaking his left knee late in the first quarter but was still able to rack some very impressive numbers.
Robinson went 4-for-4 passing for 60 yards and finished with 129 yards rushing on just five carries and two touchdowns.
Michigan head coach Rich Rodriguez sat Robinson for the rest of the game and played two other quarterbacks.
Immediately after Robinson’s injury, Rodriguez sent in Robinson’s roommate, true freshman Devin Gardner who went 7-for-10 passing for 85 yards and a touchdown. Gardner also added 25 yards rushing and a touchdown. Then former starting quarterback Tate Forcier came in and went 12-for-12 passing for 110 yards and one touchdown.
Despite the injury to Robinson, the Wolverines were still able to put away the Bowling Green Falcons in impressive fashion 65-21.
Rodriguez said in a post game press conference that Robinson could have returned if they needed him to but didn’t want to risk further injury to his knee.
Robinson will return next Saturday to open Big 10 play against the Indiana Hoosiers.
