Michigan QB Denard Robinson Runs Into The NCAA Record Books
Michigan Wolverines quarterback Denard Robinson has had his ups and downs this season, beginning with a 5-0 start, becoming leading candidate for the Heisman Trophy and leading the nation in rushing to, losing three games straight, and virtually out of the Heisman race, may have done something to put himself right back in it.
His 121 rushing yards and 239 passing Saturday against Wisconsin pushed him to two of the statistical milestones he has been chasing, setting the NCAA single-season record for quarterback rushing yards, now at 1,538, breaking the 1996 mark set by Air Force’s Beau Morgan, and he became the first NCAA player to rush and pass for 1,500 yards in a single season.
He has thrown for 2,229 yards, putting him 12th on Michigan’s single-season list, and his rushing stats also are climbing the school ladder.
His rushing total ranks sixth all-time in a single season, and his 14 rushing touchdowns also puts him in a sixth-place tie on Michigan’s list.
