Mississippi State LB Chris Hughes Suspended For Helmet-To-Helmet Hit

Looks like the NFL aren’t the only ones cracking down on helmet-to-helmet hits.

SEC Commissioner Mike Slive suspended Mississippi State linebacker Chris Hughes for a a helmet-to-helmet hit in Saturday’s game against UAB.

The 6-foot, 215-pound freshman violated Rule 9-1-4 of the NCAA Football Rule Bookwhich reads, “No player shall target and initiate contact to the head or neck area of a defenseless opponent with the helmet, forearm, elbow or shoulder.”

He will miss Saturday’s contest against Kentucky.
