Missouri, Nebraska Given Deadline To Decide On Conference Switch

The Big 12 has given Nebraska and Missouri until Friday to decide whether or not they want to stay in the conference.

The ultimatum was given by the conference presidents during league meetings that were held this past week in Kansas City.

Nebraska’s Board of Trustees are scheduled to meet Friday and Saturday in Lincoln.

Rumors have been swirling for months that the schools have been targeted by the Big Ten for expansion, although that conference has said it could take up to 18 months to make a decision about increasing its membership.

There have also been rumblings that the Pac-10 could be ready to extend invitations to a handful of Big 12 schools, including marquee members Texas and Oklahoma, among others, as it looks to expand to 16 schools.

There is a possibility that the deadline for Nebraska and Missouri to reach a decision could be extended until June 15.
