MKRob’s Mid-Season MVP: Colts QB Peyton Manning

manning

Indianapolis Colts quarterback Peyton Manning gets my vote for Mid-Season MVP and here’s why:

Manning averages 318 passing yards per game (1st in the NFL), he’s the second highest rated passer in the NFL (109.3), he has 2,227 yards and 15 TD passes (both 2nd in the NFL) including throwing for over 300 yards 6-out-of-7 games.

With an early injury to wide receiver Anthony Gonzalez, Manning has found a way to make other players who originally would be getting alot less playing time, better. Second-year wide receiver Pierre Garcon and rookie wide receiver Austin Collie are have surprisingly productive years and running back Joseph Addai is playing well despite those that say his career was beginning to look very suspect, partly due to Manning’s success.

The Colts are 7-0 and Manning looks to be the leading candidate for his second MVP award.

While wide receivers Reggie Wayne, Collie and Garcon are all playing well, Manning’s arsenal will be alot more dangerous with the return of Gonzalez. With Gonzalez in the mix, opposing defenses would  be scratching their heads at how many weapons Manning would have to use in games.

Manning is simply tplaying better football than anyone in the NFL right now and the road to the AFC Championship seems to go through Manning and his Indiamapolis Colts.
