MKRob’s Top 10 Steals Of The 2009 NFL Draft

Carolina Panthers- Everette Brown, DE, FSU- 2nd Round
Brown is my steal of the draft the entire draft. Game in and game out Brown showed pass rush ability and didn’t get selected in the first round which I thought was ridiculous. I feel that Brown did everything he could to be a first-round pick and should have been a first round pick. I had Brown going #11 to the Buffalo Bills and he goes in mid-2nd round.
The Carolina Panthers get a motivated pass rushing defensive end that will give them someone besides Julius Peppers that can get to the quarterback. He will eventually replace Peppers if he decides to go elsewhere.
I don’t understand why he didn’t go in the first round. He is coached by the great Mickey Andrews, defensive coordinator at Florida State and everyone knows Andrews puts out the best defensive players you can get from any university.
I think Brown will end up being a pro bowl defensive end especially with the motivation of not being a first round pick.

Philadelphia Eagles- LeSean McCoy, RB, Pitt- 2nd Round
McCoy, the original Miami Hurricanes signee went in the low 2nd round and I think could have gone alot higher because he has the ability to be a game changer.
With the Philadelphia Eagles, he will give Brian Westbrook a breather and will give Donovan McNabb a very solid weapon on offense.

Cincinnati Bengals- Michael Johnson, DE, Georgia Tech- 3rd round
Johnson has first-round talent the only reason why he dropped was because I believe he got bored with college football and was looking forward to the NFL Draft.
Johnson has made some great plays for the Yellow Jackets over the years and will make some great plays for the Bengals if they can coach him up and get him to love football and get him interested and motivated in playing the game again.

Chicago Bears- D.J. Moore, CB, Vanderbilt- 4th round
Moore could have easily gone in the 2nd round and the Bears steal him in the 4th. Moore has alot of experience playing in the SEC and held his own against the best conference in college football.
Moore should contribute with the Bears right away and should be the nickel back at the least. Moore can do it all at the cornerback and could be a pro-bowler in the future.

Indianapolis Colts- Terrance Taylor, DT, Michigan- 4th round
Taylor is a 2nd round talent going in the 4th round to the Indianapolis Colts. Taylor will take up some space on the defensive line and will draw double teams which will allow Colts linebackers to rome around the field and make plays.
Taylor will be a nice contributor that will be rotating along the Colts defensive line and be a run stuffer for the Colts in the future.

Arizona Cardinals- Herman Johnson, G, LSU- 5th round
BIG Herman Johnson will be a great player for the Cardinals. I believe he could be a pro bowler for the Cardinals in the future. At 6’7″ 364lbs he could be a weight problem, but I think he will be disciplined and keep his weight at an optimum level.
Johnson will be a pancake specialist in Arizona and open up some huge running lanes for current running back Tim Hightower and new Cardinals running back Chris “Beanie” Wells.

San Francisco 49ers- Nate Davis, QB, Ball State- 5th round
Davis is a great pickup for the 49ers giving them a possible starter for them in the future. I believe Davis has the ability to start in the NFL.
He’s very accurate, has a nice arm, good football IQ and is a winner. Ball State had its greatest season ever with Davis leading the way. The lack of talent at quarterback for the 49ers gives Davis a great chance to become a starter sooner than he thinks.

Cleveland Browns- James Davis, RB, Clemson- 6th round
Davis could be an absolute steal for the Browns if he can revert back to his junior season of running the ball. Davis could very well be the air apparent to an aging Jamal Lewis.
At one point I had Davis going in the 3rd round and to get him in the 6th is huge.
Davis is the type of back the Browns need to open up the offense for Derek Anderson/Brady Quinn. With his running and catching ability he can be a great all-purpose back for the Browns.

Dallas Cowboys- Mike Mickens, CB, Cincinnati- 7th round
Mickens lead the nation in interceptions and had a great career for the Bearcats. He slipped to my Dallas Cowboys in the 7th round because of an injury he had.
Mickens will play right away for the Cowboys especially since they traded away former South Florida Bulls cornerback Anthony Henry to the Detroit Lions for Jon Kitna.
I think Mickens is the 7th round more likely to be successful than any of the others picked in the last round of the NFL Draft.

San Francisco 49ers- Ricky Jean-Francois, DT, LSU- 7th round
Jean-Francois at one point was considered a first round pick but injuries and suspensions killed his draft status. But he goes to a coach in Mike Singletary that will motivate him to play at the professional level.
Jean-Francois will give the 49ers great depth along the defensive line and could contribute right away if coached correctly.
