NFL’s Best Running Back: Vikings Adrian Peterson or the Titans Chris Johnson?

This is my answer to a post I read at Ed The Sports Fan’s site about Chris Johnson being the best running back in the NFL.
The best running back in football is Adrian Peterson, he’s led the NFC in rushing as a rookie, 2nd in the NFL and has led the NFL in rushing the last two years and until Chris Johnson does that, Adrian Peterson is the best running back in the NFL. Now if the question is who is the best running back in the NFL “this season” or “in the last five games”, then the answer would be Chris Johnson.
Johnson is gaining yards because the opposing defense have one more thing to prepare for when they play the Titans, VINCE YOUNG and his ability to run as well, defenses stacked up on Chris Johnson because Kerry Collins was no real threat, Vince Young is. With the defense having to prepare for Young passing, Young running and Johnson running, it opens up alot more opportunities for Johnson. I would like to see where Johnson’s numbers would be if Kerry Collins was still starting…HMMMMM!!!
I will not crown Chris Johnson best running back in the league because he’s on pace to break a record or he has had five great games this year, its not fair to Peterson and what he’s done the last three years in the league. Where was Chris Johnson when the Titans were 0-6? Wait I know where he was, playing decent until Vince Young came in and started winning games.
Who do you think is the best running back in the NFL?

hmmmm, Since one of the main things you want out of a running game is ball security, i will take the guy who has 2 career fumbles compared to 19.

so whats the difference between that and tavaris jackson? yes VY is faster but both were threats to run. this year you have brett favre, percy, rice, berrian, shiancoe to take some pressure off of APso if you want to use VY as a reason CJ is posting better stats wouldn't AP, with a better supporting cast that years past, have better stats? his yardage is down which is understandable since there are more playmakers on the team and they need to spread the ball around but how do you explain his average yards per rush being the lowest in his career? i'm not saying CJ is better than AP but the reasoning you give for CJ success is plain dumb. just a FYI through week 6 AP had 624 rushing yards while CJ wasn't far behind with 596.
Fumbles is all you've got? LOL, NEXT! Peterson is better!!!
You’re making an argument for the “greater” running back between the two so far. No question that Chris Johnson is the best right now in a position where a single season can be the difference between being top 5 and being washed up.
