No. 1 High School Football Player, DE Jadeveon Clowney, Sets Official Visits
South Pointe High School defensive end Jadeveon Clowney, has and will make one of those schools extremely happy on Signing Day. The schools that Clowney will visit are Alabama, Clemson, Florida, Florida State and South Carolina.
Clowney is ranked by every major publication, as the No. 1 rated high school football player in the country. Clowney’s first visit will be at Alabama this weekend.
Here is what one recruiting analyst said about Clowney:
On the Hoof: His body is very long and lean, yet muscular, giving him the look of a power forward in basketball. Clowney’s arms are so long that he can reach out and surprise ballcarriers. His build is similar to Florida freshman Ronald Powell.
Needs Improvement: Has a tendency to play high and leave himself exposed to offensive linemen. This also leads to him tackling ball carriers high at times. He is able to get away with this in high school, but that might not be the case at the next level.
Most Impressive: Clowney is explosive off the ball, many times getting by offensive linemen before they can get out of their stance. He has a quick counter-step move if they overset while pass protecting. He has the speed to catch plays from behind and the lateral quickness to move sideline to sideline, devouring ball carriers. His size and speed combination is just too much for most high school offensive linemen to combat.
Conclusion: Could have an impact early in his career as a pass-rushing specialist while he works his way into the starting lineup full time. Don’t be surprised if he ends up being all-conference multiple times. ~
