No. 1 High School Prospect Jadeveon Clowney Chooses South Carolina Over Alabama And Clemson

South Pointe High School defensive end Jadeveon Clowney took an extra 12 days to make his college decision and after it was all said and done, Clowney decided on the University of South Carolina.

“I chose them because it’s close to home,” Clowney said from the podium. “I chose them because I have friends there and my mom can come see me all the time. I can’t wait to play with Gerald Dixon [a South Pointe teammate who signed with South Carolina] and with all those boys.”

“I was very close to going to Clemson,” Clowney said. “Clemson really had me thinking and I wasn’t sure. I watched what they did on signing day, and they got some great players. My mom liked them, but in the end I wanted to play in the SEC.” ~ ESPN

Clowney’s decision to play for the Gamecocks was a great one. He will be playing against top notch competition week in and week out, he will be challenged by the best athletes in the nation and will get a chance to prove how great he is once he gets used to the college game.
