Oklahoma Head Coach Bob Stoops Signs 7-Year, $34.5 Million Extension

The No. 1 team in college football just rewarded their head coach with a nice long contract. The Oklahoma Sooners signed Bob Stoops to a seven-year, $34.5 million extension, two days after defeating the previous No. 5 ranked team, the Florida State Seminoles 23-13 in Tallahassee.

“I don’t think I need to add anything to the proof that he gave to the national viewing audience that there’s no better football coach in the country than he is,” university president David Boren said before recommending approval of Stoops’ new contract. ~ Orlando Sentinel

Stoops, whose record is now 100 games over .500 at 131-31, will change nothing with his $4.875 million salary for this year but will change it for 2012 and beyond giving him more money on the back end of the extension.

Stoops and the Oklahoma Sooners will face their first Big 12 opponent of the season on Saturday night hosting the Missouri Tigers.
