Packers Sign Fifth-Round Pick TE Andrew Quarless
late Monday afternoon. The first of the team’s two fifth-round draft picks, Quarless becomes the fourth of seven Packers draft picks to sign with the team.
Quarless, who could make veteran TE Donald Lee expendable, was a four-year letterman at Penn State. He appeared in 49 career games, including 29 starts, and finished his career as the Nittany Lions’ all-time leader in receptions by a tight end (87) and second in receiving yards by a tight end (1,146).
Quarless has had his share of off-the-field issues. He was cited for underage drinking in August 2007, was suspended for ’08 spring practice following an early March DUI arrest and also was suspended for a game in ’08 after marijuana was found in his apartment shared by three other teammates.
