Panthers QB Cam Newton Sets Rookie Debut Passing Record; Loses To Cardinals
Carolina Panthers quarterback Cam Newton had a tremendous rookie debut Sunday after setting the NFL rookie passing record for yards in a game.
Ironically, the day that iron man Colts quarterback Peyton Manning misses his first start ever, is the day Newton breaks his 302 yard rookie debut passing record by a long shot.
Newton finished with 422 yards, two touchdowns, one interception and one rushing touchdown in a 28-21 losing effort against the Arizona Cardinals. Newton also tied Detroit Lions quarterback Matthew Stafford’s rookie passing yard record for a single game by a rookie.
It looks like the Panthers have found their quarterback of the future in Newton and he will give defensive coordinator’s headaches planning for him and his double threat potential.
