Panthers SS Sherrod Martin Fined $5,000 For Hit On Giants TE Kevin Boss

Mike Garafolo of the Newark Star-Ledger reports Panthers’ safety Sherrod Martin was fined $5,000 by the league for the hit that resulted in a concussion for Boss, who will sit out Sunday’s game against the Colts. Martin was fined for “striking a defenseless receiver in the head area.”

Boss said he felt “pretty defenseless” as he went up to catch a ball throw up the middle of the field by Eli Manning. Boss tried to convince the training staff to allow him to remain in the game but they held him out. It was Boss’ third concussion in less than two years.
