The NCAA is looking into a South Beach pool party which was held at San Francisco 49ers running back Frank Gore’s house, according to Liz Mullen of the Sports Business Journal.

ESPN.com reported that Alabama officials were investigating whether DT Marcell Dareus broke NCAA rules by attending an agent’s party in South Beach. North Carolina DT Marvin Austin and South Carolina TE Weslye Saunders were interviewed about attending the same party, ESPN.com reported.

Sources told SportsBusiness Journal there were multiple trips to South Florida by college players, including a May 15 trip in which multiple college football players attended Gore’s pool party during the day and a party later that Saturday night at South Beach nightclub Cameo. Gore in a telephone interview said that he had the party at his house and partied later that night at the club, adding that he did not see whether those players were there but could not say for certain that they were not.

“I don’t even know those guys. There were a lot of people there; it was crazy,” Gore said. He added that no agent or financial adviser, or other person involved in the athlete representation business paid for his party.

“I paid for my own party,” Gore said.

Multiple sources said NCAA officials were also looking into whether college athletes stayed or partied at the Fontainebleau Hotel in Miami Beach.

Officials at Cameo and the Fontainebleau did not return phone calls.

The parties are just one of the things NCAA investigators are probing. They are also looking into allegations of agents, financial advisors, or runners who act as middle men providing an array of gifts to multiple college athletes at at least five Division I-A college football programs, sources said.
