Patriots CB Devin McCourty Should Have Deal Done Before Training Camp
Andy Simms, who represents Patriots first round pick Devin McCourty, told Karen Guregian of the Boston Herald the two sides have been talking recently and he is confident a deal will get done by the start of training camp.
”There’s not a lot to discuss or report at this point, but we are speaking and have been the last couple of weeks,” Simms said. ”Obviously, it’s a slow process. There’s some issues with the pending lockout, and working with option bonuses, but we pretty much have figured out the best way to structure the deal and I’m very optimistic we’re going to get a deal done on time and I think the Patriots would say the same thing.”
“Obviously, Devin and I plan on having a contract before training camp starts. He’d like to be there tomorrow, if it was at all possible,”’ said Simms. ”At this point, we just have to make sure we work out the right deal and take care of things the right way before we rush anything.”
