Patriots Trade RB Laurence Maroney To The Broncos

According to ESPN.com’s Adam Schefter via Twitter, the New England Patriots have traded running back Laurence Maroney to the Denver Broncos.

New England gets Denver’s fourth-round pick in 2011 and Denver gets New England’s sixth-round pick in 2011.

Maroney, a first-round pick of the Patriots in 2006, has been an often injured back in New England was inactive in the opener against the Cincinnati Bengals.

The Patriots already have former Jaguars running back Fred Taylor, long time Patriot, Kevin Faulk and BenJarvus Green-Ellis on the roster and feel they have enough to compete without Maroney on the team.
