Patriots’ Wes Welker Now The No. 1 Wide Receiver
The New England Patriots traded wide receiver Randy Moss and a seventh-round pick in 2012 to the Vikings on Wednesday for a third-round pick in 2011.
This trade leaves Wes Welker as the clear-cut No. 1 target in New England’s pass attack.
Welker has led the Patriots in receptions each of the past three seasons, but Moss was considered the No. 1 option based on all the attention he received from opposing defenses.
Now, most of that attention should go to Welker, who enters the Week 5 bye with 26 catches for 217 yards and three touchdowns.
