Police Find Handgun In Former Colts WR Marvin Harrison’s Car
Cops found a handgun in Marvin Harrison’s car in North Philadelphia on Wednesday.
According to the Philadelphia Daily News, the former NFL star was pulled over for driving the wrong way on Berks Street near 27th at about 2:40 p.m. (est).
The ex-Colts wide receiver presented the cops with a permit to carry a firearm that was registered in Montgomery County, where Harrison has a home. He failed to mention that he had a handgun in his SUV, which he was required to do by law.
The cops took the gun and Harrison was allowed to leave the scene. Harrison has been linked to prior shootings throughout the last few years. The newspaper reports investigators may test-fire the weapon to see if it matches the shell casings used in two prior shootings possibly linked to the ex- Indianapolis Colts star.
Harrison was accused of being involved in an April 2008 shooting outside an auto repair shop he owns in North Philadelphia. Although no arrests were made and police did not name Harrison as a suspect in the shooting that left three people injured.
Alleged victim Dwight Dixon said at the time he was shot in the left hand. Harrison admitted he was involved in a fight with Dixon two weeks prior to the shooting in his hometown of North Philadelphia.
Robert Nixon also claimed he was hit in the back by a shot fired by Harrison during that April 2008 incident. Charges were never filed in either case, but both men filed civil lawsuits against Harrison.
Dixon was shot several times last July in North Philadelphia, two blocks north of Playmakers, a club owned by Harrison. He died nearly two months later.
Harrison has been out of football since completing his 13th season with the Colts in 2008.
