Rams LB Will Witherspoon Traded To Eagles Just Before Deadline

Something was bound to happen before the NFL’s trading deadline, and at least one fairly significant move has now been made.

Shortly before Tuesday’s 4 p.m. ET deadline, the Philadelphia Eagles have traded for Rams starting linebacker Will Witherspoon. The Eagles will give up rookie WR Brandon Gibson and a fifth-round pick in the deal.

Witherspoon, the long-time Carolina Panther and St. Louis Ram linebacker, can play both middle and outside ‘backer and is highly regarded for his speed and football smarts.

“I’m definitely comfortable doing it,” Witherspoon said of playing different positions. “It’s never bothered me one way or another, when I was lighter or heavier, one side of the ball or the other. I’m a guy who just wants to be out on the field and have an opportunity to make plays.”
