Rams Sign First Pick T Jason Smith

The St. Louis Rams signed offensive tackle Jason Smith on Thursday.

Smith, signed a six-year deal that PFT reports is worth $33 million guaranteed.

Smith is expected to be the starter at left tackle for the Rams.

He will take the place of former all-pro tackle Orlando Pace, who has since signed with the Chicago Bears.

Smith began his career at Baylor as a tight end and eventually grew out of that position and played left tackle and right tackle for the majority of his career.

Since Smith was drafted #2 overall, the Rams expect him to live up to Orlando Pace’s level.
