Redskins TE Fred Davis Improving This Offseason

Washington Redskins tight ends coach Jon Embree told the Washington Post that Fred Davis will be asked to block this season, refusing to label him as a receiving tight end.

Davis filled in admirably for Chris Cooley last season with 48 catches for 509 yards and six touchdowns, but Embree said he’ll stay in to help block if the defense he’s playing against warrants it.

He said the same thing of Cooley. Embree also said that Davis is “starting to learn some things about the game of football,” and “not just going out there and playing.”
