Saints LB Jonathan Vilma Fined $10,000 By The NFL

New Orleans Saints middle linebacker Jonathan Vilma has been fined $10,000 by the NFL for his helmet-to-helmet hit on New York Giants quarterback Eli Manning during the second quarter of last Sunday’s game at the Superdome.

Vilma said he is appealing the ruling.

Vilma was assessed a 15-yard penalty for roughing the passer. That penalty nullified a 70-yard interception return for a touchdown by Saints free safety Darren Sharper.

The Saints won 48-27 to remain undefeated at 5-0.
