Saints RB Lynell Hamilton Making A Huge Statement At Camp

The New Orleans Saints lost running back Mike Bell to the Philadelphia Eagles during the offseason and his replacement could come in the form of undrafted Lynell Hamilton. He’s certainly helping his cause with his early season work.

According to The New Orleans Times-Picayune, the 25-year-old Hamilton has been a mainstay around Saints camp, whether it be in the weight room or the film room.

“He sure has been (solid),” head coach Sean Payton said. “He’s been healthy. He’s been a steady back for us. So far, we are pleased with what he is doing.”

Hamilton has been in the league for three years, but got his first career carries in 2009. He had 35 carries for 125 yards and two touchdowns during the regular season. Hamilton is not taking anything for granted and knows that there are other backs fighting for his position. But, as quarterback Drew Brees said, Bell’s role from last year is up for grabs. Someone has to earn it.
