Saints Sign Former Redskins RB Ladell Betts

The New Orleans Saints signed former Washington Redskins running back Ladell Betts to a one-year deal Monday afternoon.

Betts, 30, will receive a base salary of $755,000 this season and could earn an addition $255,000 in incentives according to NFL Network’s Jason La Canfora. Betts also will received a $50,000 signing bonus.

The Saints initially offered him the deal last week.

The San Francisco 49ers, who signed Brian Westbrook Monday, Denver Broncos and Houston Texans were also interested in Betts.

The 5-foot-11, 224-pound running back has a career 4.1 yards-per-carry average in eight seasons.
