Tennessee Coach Lane Kiffin Set To Take Over USC
has agreed in principle to become the next head coach at Southern California, sources close to the situation told ESPN.com’s Chris Low on Tuesday.
Kiffin would replace Pete Carroll, who jumped to the NFL as coach of the Seattle Seahawks.
USC released a statement Tuesday night confirming Kiffin as its new football coach.
The Los Angeles Times reported that Kiffin scheduled a 9 p.m. ET meeting to talk to his Tennessee players.
Kiffin, the former Oakland Raiders head coach was a USC assistant coach from 2001-2006.
Kiffin went 5-15 in less than two seasons with Oakland and 7-5 this past year with the Volunteers.
