Texas A&M Aggies Set To Join SEC In July 2012
The Texas A&M Aggies have cleared all legal hurdles on leaving the Big 12 to join the SEC and will become an official member in July 2012.
Texas A&M will compete in all sports during the 2012-13 season. That gives the SEC 13 members and its first addition since South Carolina and Arkansas in 1992.
“Texas A&M is a nationally prominent institution on and off the field and a great fit for the SEC tradition of excellence — athletically, academically and culturally,” Commissioner Mike Slive said in the statement. ~
The SEC is bar none the best college football conference in the country and the Aggies stand to gain lots of money and a huge boost in recruiting from this move. The SEC has also said they are going to make 14 their limit on teams entering the conference.
