The State Of Florida Well Represented In The CFL

is to track where football players, who competed in the state of Florida, have been able to land, furthering their career on the gridiron.
From colleges and universities across the country to the many community college programs around the nation, the Miami Herald, Elite Scouting Services and Friday Night Football Magazine Florida will tell you where our athletes are getting it done.
We will also spotlight professional football players as well. Here is a look at the Canadian Football League, and where not only the high school athletes have gone from the Sunshine State, but also the players who competed collegiately here in Florida have headed as well.

Ciatrick Fason, RB, Florida
Former University of Miami offensive lineman Sherko Haji-Rasouli is on the roster of the British Columbia Lions. Former ‘Cane Chris Rutledge (Dr. Krop) is on the practice roster.
Lineman Joe McGrath, another UM product, is an offensive tackle for the Edmonton Eskimoes and former Florida Gator running back Ciatrick Fason (Neptune Beach Fletcher) is on the practice squad.

Carlos Armour, S, Miami
The Saskatchewan Roughriders feature Cardinal Gibbons offensive guard Marc Parenteau (Boston College), who was born in Quebec City, Canadian-born defensive tackle Keith Shologan (University of Central Florida), West Virginia defensive back Lance Frazier (Boca Raton Spanish River) and Bethune Cookman defensive end Stevie Baggs (Altamonte Springs Lake Brantley) on the active roster and former Miami Hurricane safety Carlos Armour on the injured list.

Craphonso Thorpe, WR, FSU
The Winnipeg Blue Bombers also have a number of players with Florida ties such as Virginia Tech linebacker Ike Charlton (Orlando Dr. Phillips), Tallahassee Lincoln receiver Craphonso Thorpe, Mississippi State running back Fred Reid (Tampa King) and Oregon State running back Yvenson Bernard (Boca Raton), who is the older brother of current Fort Lauderdale St. Thomas Aquinas running back Giovanni Bernard.
The Hamilton Tiger Cats boast former FAU defensive back Lawrence Gordon (Hallandale) and Canadian-born offensive lineman Cedric Gagne-Marcoux from the University of Central Florida. They also have former Venice standout running back Tre Smith (Auburn), who is on the injured list.

Jarrett Payton, RB, Miami
In Toronto, the Argonauts have former FSU offensive lineman Shannon Boatman, University of Pittsburgh defensive end Claude Harriott (Glades Central), former University of Miami running back Jarrett Payton, canadian-born offensive guard Taylor Robertson (UCF), Albany State defensive tackle Walter Curry (Crescent City), University of Minnesota safety Willie Middlebrooks (Homestead) and Jacksonville University defensive back Lin-J Shell (Orlando Edgewater). Former FSU receiver P.K. Sam is on the injured list and Southern Mississippi quarterback Stephen Reaves (Tampa Plant) is on the practice roster.

Chris Leak, QB, Florida
Former University of Miami quarterback coach Mark Trestman is the head coach of the Montreal Alouettes. Trestman has a few players with Florida ties on the team such as receiver S.J. Green (Brandon) from the University of South Florida, Quarterback Chris Leak from the University of Florida, one-time FSU quarterback Adrian McPherson (Bradenton Southeast), Connecticut receiver Larry Taylor (Glades Day) and FSU safety Stanford Samuels (Miami Carol City). Georgia Southern linebacker John Mohring (Fort Myers Bishop Verot) is on the practice roster.
