Three Hurricanes Named To ESPN.com’s Preseason All-ACC Team
The Miami Hurricanes have three student-athletes named to the ESPN.com Preseason All-ACC Team for the upcoming college football season. Senior linebacker Sean Spence (#31) and junior’s safety Ray-Ray Armstrong (#26) and guard Brandon Washington (#72) ESPN made the announcement on their site Friday afternoon.
Spence was last year’s second-leading tackler in the ACC and made second-team All-ACC. Spence, the team’s defensive MVP last year, is a candidate for the Butkus, Lombardi, Nagurski and Bednarik Awards.
Armstrong enters a promising junior season after finishing the 2010 campaign with 79 tackles, three interceptions and a spot on the 2010 All-ACC Second Team.
Washington, who started all 13 games for the Canes as a sophomore last season, recorded 56 pancakes, 11 lumberjacks and was named ACC Offensive Lineman of the Week twice in 2010 with his best performance against former Big East rival Pittsburgh when he graded out at 99 percent in a 31-3 victory for the Hurricanes.
