Titans Will Pick Up QB Vince Young’s $4.25 Million Roster Bonus
on Wednesday, the date it is due payable.
Then the Titans would owe Young a base salary of $7.5 million in 2010. He’s also scheduled to make $8.5 million in 2011.
Young’s agent, Major Adams, on Tuesday said “nothing has changed.” He told The Tennessean last month he expected Young’s contract remain as it was negotiated back in August 2006, after Young was the 3rd overall pick of the NFL Draft.
“I think it will probably stay as is for now,’’ Adams said. “Vince loves Tennessee and loves playing for the Titans. He’s very happy.’’
Young took over as the team’s starter after the Titans started 0–6 in 2009.
He ended up being named to the Pro Bowl after guiding the Titans to 8 wins in the final 10 games. He has a career mark of 26–13 as a starter.
Coach Jeff Fisher said at the NFL Combine there was no need to address Young’s contract at this point.
“There is no need for any (contract) discussions,’’ Fisher said. “We have a deal with Vince and are looking forward to him getting involved in the offseason program and getting going again.’’
