Top 8 2011 Uncommitted High School Football Signing Day Predictions
Where will No. 1 High School Prospect Jadeveon Clowney go?
Here are the top eight uncommitted prospects for the 2011 class and my predictions on where they will end up playing their college ball next year and beyond. Enjoy!
8. Aundrey Walker, Guard, Glenville HS (OH)
At 6’6″ 355 lbs, Walker is the largest player of the 2011 class. Playing tackle at Glenville High School in Ohio was the best spot for him but when he gets to college, he will end up playing guard because of his quickness, mammoth size and lack of speed on the outside. He will have to get in the weight room and get stronger so he could handle those college defensive tackles but Walker has the potential to be a great asset to whichever school he chooses.
The Florida State Seminoles, Michigan State Spartans, Ohio State Buckeyes and USC Trojans all have a shot at Walker and with his ability, all of these schools would love to have him. Coming out of Glenville in Ohio, not many stray away from home so with that being said I’m going with the……
Prediction:
7. Jacoby Brissett, Quarterback, Dwyer HS (FL)
Brissett is ranked as a blue-chip quarterback by every scouting service available and is being recruited by just about every Division I-A school in college football. He has the size, arm strength, agility, mobility and decision making are what every college football coach dreams about.
The spread offense is allowing younger quarterbacks to have success at the next level. Depending on where he ends up and what offense his team runs may determine how early he plays.
The Miami Hurricanes and the Wisconsin Badgers are the top two schools Brissett is considering and with both of them looking to give him a chance to start sooner rather than later, I think he will choose the…..
Prediction:
6. Marqise Lee, Safety, Junipero Serra HS (CA)
Lee is a top three safety everywhere you look and according to the rest of the nation they believe it as well. He’s been offered scholarships by every Division I-A school in the country and has a very hard decision to make come signing day. Here’s one scouting report on Lee that tells exactly what kind of player he is:
“A big play threat on either side of the ball, Lee is a much more natural defensive back than receiver. He plays a lot close to the line of scrimmage and is an aggressive, yet sure tackler. He has good hands and is outstanding at breaking on the ball. He has a good frame to continue to add muscle weight, and his height and long arms coupled with his ball skills let him beat receivers to jump balls and high passes.” ~
The California Bears, Miami Hurricanes and the Oregon Ducks complete his top three and he would fit very well at any of those schools. Lee could step in and compete at a high level whether it be in the ACC or the PAC-12. I’m sure Lee wants to win right away and if that’s the case, he will probably pick the…..
Prediction:
5. Tim Jernigan, Defensive Tackle, Columbia HS (FL)
Jernigan is ranked by many as a top five defensive tackle in the country and has proven to be a force at Lake City Columbia the past two years. He has the quickness, change of direction and strength that you need at the college level to be extremely successful. At 6’2″ 275 lb frame, Jernigan has the ability to put on about 25-30 pounds and be a superstar at the next level.
Here is what
“Jernigan has all the tools you look for in an elite defensive lineman. He is very powerful, he moves extremely well, and he has a high motor. He can work on the use of his hands, his pad level, and his moves off the ball, but he has great size, great feet, great quickness, great change of direction, and ideal size to play defensive tackle on the next level.”
The Alabama Crimson Tide, Florida Gators, Florida State Seminoles and the LSU Tigers are all in the mix and could all use Jernigan right now and even though his uniform and helmets look like LSU. I think Jernigan will choose the…….
Prediction:
4. Cyrus Kouandjio, Tackle, Dematha Catholic HS (MD)
Kouandjio is rated No. 1 tackle in the country and according to this writer from Scout.com.
“Kouandjio has an incredible wing-span and frame. Not many kids can walk around at 280-plus pounds and look skinny, once he fills out his frame the sky is the limit. Kouandjio plays the game with a mean streak and he finishes blocks. He is a dominant run blocker and is outstanding in pass protection. Shows outstanding feet while playing in space he can stop big run stuffers or speed rushers.” ~
The Alabama Crimson Tide, Auburn Tigers and the Iowa Hawkeyes are in the running for Kouandjio’s services and with the SEC competition looking to give him a chance to face top notch players, I think he will take advantage of that and go to the………………..
Prediction:
3. Curtis Grant, Linebacker, Hermitage HS (VA)
Grant is ranked by most as the No. 1 outside linebacker in the country and according to the scouts, he has earned the No. 1 ranking. At 6’3″ 215 lbs, Grant plays inside linebacker for Hermitage but has the build and speed to translate into a great outside linebacker at the next level. He not only has great vision and instincts to find the ball, he has tremendous closing speed and does a great job in coverage.
The Florida Gators, North Carolina Tar Heels, Ohio State Buckeyes and the hometown Virginia Cavaliers are all in the mix for Grant and as he makes his decision tommorrow, he has to think about whether he wants to play right away, win championships, get a great education, make the NFL or maybe all four. In this day and age it’s tough to have all of that. Grant will probably go somewhere he can play and win right away and I think that school is the…….
Prediction:
2. Isaiah Crowell, Running Back, Carver HS (GA)
Crowell is ranked by many as the No. 1 running back in the country and looking at his impressive numbers, I would have to agree. In his junior season alone he rushed for over 1,900 yards and 25 touchdowns. He benches 315 pounds and squats 455 pounds.
The Alabama Crimson Tide and the Georgia Bulldogs look to have the edge right now and it looks to me like he will get a chance to play right away no matter which school he chooses, but I believe he wants to start right away and his best chance of that may not be at Alabama because of super sophomore Trent Richardson taking over the starting role in Tuscaloosa. With that being said, I think Crowell well choose……
Prediction:
Georgia Bulldogs
1. Jadeveon Clowney, Defensive End, South Pointe HS (SC)
Clowney is the No. 1 overall prospect in the 2011 class and everyone around the country is waiting for his decision come signing day. At 6’5″ 235 lbs, Clowney has shown that he has proven to be a man among boys and will definitely be at the next level.
The Alabama Crimson Tide and the hometown South Carolina Gamecocks look to be the two that Clowney will be choosing from and even with Alabama maybe having the slight edge, I’m going to pick an upset and say Clowney goes to……
