UFL’s Hartford Colonials Sign Former Panthers QB Josh McCown

Former Carolina Panthers quarterback Josh McCown is the latest former NFL player to head to the UFL.

The eight-year NFL vet signed on to become the new quarterback of the Hartford Colonials on Tuesday.

“He’s a guy who has played in the National Football League for a number of years, and his experience is something that we’ll lean on,” Colonials Head Coach and General Manager Chris Palmer said.

McCown is trying to silence critics who believe the game has passed him by.

“Josh talked about coming in and competing and wanting to show people he can still play, Palmer added. “That’s what you’re looking for in a veteran player.”

McCown also spent time with the Arizona Cardinals, Detroit Lions, Oakland Raiders and Miami Dolphins during his time in the NFL.

As part of the his deal, McCown will donate a portion of his salary to the Boys & Girls Clubs of Connecticut.
