USA vs The World High School Football Game
, the “world” will get to see how far it has come in the Team USA vs. the World game, matching some of the top high school players in America with the best from Canada, Europe and Asia, among others, offering a measuring stick for football globalization.
The USA team features top stars such as Columbus’ RB Jakhari Gore, an LSU commit, and Booker T. Washington WR Quinton Dunbar, a Florida commit. There are five USA Team players from Broward County: Shawn Corker (Cardinal Gibbons), Ethan Grant (North Broward Prep), Tony Grimes (Hollywood Hills), Ben Hopfinger and Keion Payne (both St. Thomas).
“The guys in Europe are much more skilled and can do much more complicated things that they used to. They know the game,” said World coach Jan Jenmert from Sweden. “We have much more competent players than we did back in the late 80s, early 90s, because our players now have played a hundred times more more than those guys. Guys used to play for 4 or 5 years, the kids I have now on senior varsity, they are 19 years old and they’ve played 10-12 years of football.”
