Usain Bolt Goes For Third Gold In 400 Meter Relay

relay

Jamaica qualified for the final of the men’s 400-meter relay Friday, keeping Usain Bolt on track for a third gold medal at the world championships.

With Bolt and Asafa Powell sitting out the heats, Jamaica was second behind Italy but still easily qualified in 38.60 seconds.

Bolt has won the 100 and 200 with world record times at the championships. He also won all three events at the Beijing Olympics.

The defending champion United States had smooth relay passes to clinch the top time of 37.97. At the Beijing Games last year, they dropped the baton.

The final is Saturday.
