Vikings Officially Name Leslie Frazier Head Coach

Minnesota Vikings owner Zygi Wilf has stripped the interim tag from Leslie Frazier have agreed to a deal to make the former defensive coordinator the head coach in Minnesota. The team signed him to a three-year contract.

Frazier becomes the eighth head coach in Vikings history after going 3-3 as interim head coach.

The Vikings fired Frazier’s former boss, Brad Childress after going 3-7 in the first 10 games of the season.

“We believe in what we have right now as an organization has worked,” Zygi Wilf said. “I think that the most important thing that we’re looking forward to is that communication, an open communication on a regular basis amongst the coach and Rick and Rob and ourselves. As long as we have that communication and that trust, we’ll be a better organization.”

Frazier said he has a “ton of respect” for Spielman “when it comes to personnel” matters. “One of the things that we talked about … was just making sure that we always communicate as a group regarding our 53-man roster,” Frazier said. “Just trusting that between myself and Rick that we’ll be able to settle on the right 53 for our football team. My confidence is bolstered by the relationship over the last six weeks.” ~ Minnesota Star Tribune
