Vikings WR Sidney Rice Named NFC Offensive Player Of The Week

Minnesota Vikings wide receiver Sidney Rice has been named NFC Offensive Player of the Week for his career-best 201-yard receiving day vs. Detroit on Sunday. Rice’s performance was the 4th-best receiving yardage day by a Viking in team history and only the 4th time a Viking has eclipsed the 200-yard receiving mark.
Rice has notched 100-yard receiving days in 3 of the past 4 games and leads the NFC with 786 receiving yards. Entering 2009, Rice had 537 career receiving yards on 46 catches in 2007-08. He has 786 yards on 44 receptions through 9 games this season.
Rice is the 1st Vikings WR to earn NFC Offensive Player of the Week honors since Randy Moss in 2001 and Rice’s honor is the 5th NFC Player of the Week recognition earned by a Viking in 2009, 3 of those on offense.
