Washington’s Jake Locker Could Be #1 QB Taken In The 2010 NFL Draft???

Washington Huskies junior quarterback Jake Locker maybe the one guy that could go ahead of the projected #1 quarterback selection 2008 Heisman Trophy Winner and Oklahoma Sooners quarterback Sam Bradford in the 2010 NFL Draft.
Locker is 6’3” 225lbs and is playing in a pro-style offense at Washington under former USC offensive coordinator and current Washington head coach Steve Sarkisian.
With Bradford passing on a possible #1 overall pick last year and being hurt early this season, it’s possible that someone could take that #1 quarterback slot in the NFL Draft this year.
Locker really broke onto the national scene when he led the unranked Washington Huskies to a 16-13 victory over the 3rd ranked USC Trojans. Late in the 4th quarter, Jake engineered a 68 yard drive, with the game tied at 13-13, that ended with a 22 yard field goal with 3 seconds remaining that put the Huskies up 16-13.
The win allowed the Huskies to move to 24th in the AP poll, this was the first time they had been ranked since the 2003 season.
Locker may also be the most athletic quarterback in college football. He was a three-sports star in high school and was drafted in the 40th round by the Angels in 2006 out of high school and then again by the Angels this year in the 10th round.
All of these factor in extremely well when it comes to his NFL Draft status and transition to the next level. I will be watching Locker’s progress throughout the year to see if he will be a contender to be the #1 quarterback taken in the 2010 NFL Draft, assuming he comes out.
