Where Are They Now II: Ex-Steelers LB Earl Holmes
Do you NFL and/or Pittsburgh Steelers fans remember a guy named Earl Holmes? Earl played linebacker in the NFL for 10 seasons, six with the Steelers, three with the Detroit Lions and one with the Cleveland Browns. Remember the great 3-4 defense that was played in Pittsburgh in the late 90s? The four linebackers were Greg Lloyd, Levon Kirkland, Jason Gildon and Earl Holmes. Holmes is the greatest defensive player to come out of my alma mater FAMU. In his 10 year career he totaled 958 tackles (685 solos), 11.5 sacks, 89 tackles for loss, 6 forced fumbles, 5 fumble recoveries, 29 pass deflections, and 1 interception for 36 yards in 140 games. What is Earl doing now???
He is a first-year linebackers coach at his alma mater Florida A&M University (FAMU) in Tallahassee, Florida.
