Why I Hate Terrell Owens!!!

terrell3

Pictures are worth a 1,000 words and as a die hard Dallas Cowboys fan, this picture and the others in this post spoke 10,o00 words to me because this was the absolute most disrespectful thing a player could ever do and it was done to my Dallas Cowboys.

Those who really know me, know that my most hated player in the NFL is now Bills WR Terrell Owens and here is why:

I will never forget September 23, 2000 was the day I began my hatred of Terrell Owens.

In this particular game, a brash, young Terrell Owens caught a 3-yard touchdown pass and then stood on the Cowboys’ star logo at midfield, held out his arms and looked through the hole in the roof. It was viewed as the ultimate slap in the face of the historic franchise.

After Emmitt Smith scored a 1-yard touchdown, he ran to midfield and slammed the ball down in front of the 49ers’ bench. But Owens followed with another touchdown, and this time he ran to midfield again. As Owens slammed the ball down, safety George Teague came flying in to smash Owens as a way of protecting the Cowboys’ home turf.

The day after the game, the 49ers suspended Owens for one week. That incident essentially ended Owens’ relationship with 49ers coach Steve Mariucci, who denounced Owens’ actions.

Next you would think that Owens would have learned his lesson after what happened while he was in San Francisco, but he didn’t Owens disrespected the star a third time, only with his second team, the Philadelphia Eagles. No one on Dallas’ defense did anything to protect the star, they just stood there while he blatantly disrespected the Cowboys.

On the flip side, my favorite player on that particular defense was then Dallas Cowboys safety George Teague and it wasn’t only because he was a great player, but as stated earlier, he was the only one on that defense that nailed Owens when he disrespected the star. All the other Cowboys on D just stood there and let him do it, SMH!!!

COWBOYS OWENS

This picture is as disgusting as the ones of Owens standing on the star. And I blame Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones for this one. This was like “making a deal with the devil” to me. The fact that Owens changed from the green and white of the Eagles to the silver and blue of my Dallas Cowboys DID NOT change my view of him AT ALL!!!

Bottom line: Those who played the game will more feel me on this than those who didn’t. Standing on the opposing team’s logo is complete disrespect to that particular teams house and as a player on that team, you are to protect your house. George Teague was the only one in that game that protected the star. And for the leader of the house to make a deal with the person that disrespected your a few years before is absolutely disgusting and I will never forgive Jones for that.

Do you agree with me on this or am I just being crazy here???

I would hate him too, if he came to my team. The mock dance of Ray Lewis, plus his comments afterward, made me want to spit on him. He's a freak of an athlete, but a person I wouldn't want to deal with

You make valid points here. Was willing to give him the benefit of doubt as a Cowboy. I wasn’t happy with how things turn out. I know that we move on without him. I dislike Jerry for a lot of reasons but signing T.O. Isn’t one of them.

Exactly and I feel like Jerry Jones signing him shouldn't make any Cowboys fan change their mind about him.

May 26, 2009 at 6:57 pm

I give no one the benefit of the doubt when he ruined 2 teams before coming to Dallas and when you ruin it for me, its ruined for good, Cowboy or not!!! If your favorite color is pink and the devil changed colors to pink, does that mean you like him now??? NO, he's still the devil no matter what!!!

Terrell Owens is a competitor and likes to get under folks’ skin. It's all about him, yesterday, today and tomorrow, and we (Buffalo) will eventually experience that. I understand there's a certain "code of respect" amongst athletes but what's the difference in them verbally saying they’re the best, and Terrell displaying why he thinks he's great?
LOL I'm "Team TO" I understand his misguided, unstable actions. Once he speaks or acts..he has to carry through. He's no quitter….good, bad or indifferent..

Verbally saying you're best is fine, players do that all the time. On Hard Knocks With the Dallas Cowboys, Owens told the other WR's for Dallas that there was one receiver better than him, but he was coming after him (Randy Moss) so he doesn't even think he's the best. The issue I'm having is the constant disrespect of the Cowboys. He has played in hundreds of games, but has only done it in Dallas and as Cowboys fan, I take that personal!!! Why didn't he do it against Green Bay, Washington or the NY Giants??? If he feels he's the best he should do it everywhere, not on my Cowboys star!!!

Great player. Lousy teammate. Cares mostly about himself (ok, only about himself). ESPN magnet for coverage and controversy. There will come a day when his skills will fade and he won't be able to be as good as he thinks he is. Just waiting for it to come.

Yes sir, I completely agree, I can't til he retires!!!

May 27, 2009 at 2:19 am

I have never been a huge fan of TO. Yes he is a great athlete and no one can knock him of that, but his attitude is sooo horrible which means he has poor sportsmanship. __The way he has acted with the Cowboys makes me wonder does he have a personal vendetta against them, because as you mentioned he has never disrespected another teams turf..so why Dallas? He may really dislike Dallas because Dallas is the "American Team" & at that point in time he was never apart of it & then when he joined the Cowboys he felts he was "it"..__As far as respect goes, he doesn't have that for anyone & that is just he type of player he is a competitior & in the eyes of some when you are competing all respect goes out the window. __I agree with you though "Don't disrespect the STAR"

AMEN, MY BROTHER!!!

Damn, I think you may actually hate Eldorado Owens more than I do, and that's saying a lot. I wasn't as mad at the star incident (I actually liked him in those days, even being a die-hard Cow fan like you), but I started wondering about him when he dissed Garcia, and I absolutely lost all respect for him when he threw Donovan McNabb under the bus. He came here (which I was ABSOLUTELY, 100% AGAINST), and did the same thing to Romo. I'm with you; Owner Jerry has to take the weight for this one, because the writing was on the wall…

…but he can make it up, by signing Vick (wishful thinking…hahahahaha).

May 27, 2009 at 3:31 pm

I told TheNFLChick that he always will and be #81 to me because he's great as #81 but horrible as a person which = his name. So to me he is #81. I just put his name on posts because no one will ever know who I'm talking about.

May 27, 2009 at 3:36 pm

@ pigskinlady… I could not have said it better. And T.O. was not the reason why the Boys had a sorry a$$ season last year *coughs, Romo, coughs, O-line* I for one hope that Jones sees the error in his ways. T.O. was the best receiver we had last year and now we have to depend on chicken greese fingers Crayton? Roy Williams? Pu-leese! I am going to ride or die T.O. and I can't wait to cheer for him when they play the Titians, while weating my 81 COWBOYS jersey!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

***Team T. to tha eldoradO.***
And to answer your question about if you are crazy or not ,mkrob…. you are crazy as hell!! LMAO

May 28, 2009 at 4:03 pm

Oh, and no Vick. the BOys have had enought criminals. At least T.O. was never in trouble with the law!!!!!!!!!!!!! *mkrob got mrsFAB upset up in here…*

May 28, 2009 at 4:04 pm

How could you be ok with #81 disrespecting the star??? 3 times!!! That's BS. You would understand more if you played the game!!!

May 28, 2009 at 4:20 pm

I also understand Romo and O Line sucks, but this was just about why I hate #81 and always will hate #81!!!

May 28, 2009 at 4:24 pm

WE can agree to disagree. I have to admit that I once hated T.O. as well. But after I saw how he was railroaded in Philly and then he became a Cowboy… I took him into my big ole' Cowboy loving heart! :)
